Exipnos received a delightfully curious visit in early September from the Merseburg AWO daycare center “Feldmäuse” (Field Mice). The boys and girls of the Fox group, accompanied by their director, Ms. Baumann, got a taste of professional life in the workshops and laboratories on Brandisstraße and learned many interesting facts about sustainability and environmental protection. They were particularly fascinated to watch a large machine transform tiny granules, heat, and pressure into colorful mugs made of BioCelain. The young researchers learned that this unbreakable porcelain is decomposed in nature by small organisms, much like wood. As a parting gift, the children were able to take many of the colorful mugs back to the daycare center – along with a donation to help fund further exciting projects.
