348 km/h fast. 656 hp. 1385 kilograms light (dry weight). These are the key specifications of a new supercar from overseas that car enthusiasts worldwide are currently raving about. The limited series of just 1000 units also includes a piece of Exipnos: the Compound BO 5215 KSX.

Merseburg, June 7, 2017. Comp BO 5215 / KSX is a polypropylene with elastomer and reinforcing material, which was developed some time ago for a German car manufacturer (see image on the right). The material is characterized by impact resistance, splinter resistance, and high dimensional stability. It is ideally suited for creating matte surfaces.
“We have recently further improved the processing properties,” explains Exipnos Managing Director Peter Putsch: “This results in exceptionally uniform surfaces.” So-called “tiger stripes”—a common defect in injection molding with similar materials—can be avoided. “And even at low temperatures, the plastic remains splinter-free,” the company founder adds, citing another advantage. Furthermore, the material is also suitable for many attractive colors.
In the spectacular sports car from an American manufacturer, Comp BO 5215/KSX is used in the steering column shroud. Furthermore, it is also used by various manufacturers for door panels, non-airbag steering wheels (for example, for construction vehicles), and center consoles.
