How does color get into a car’s cockpit? How are plastic parts shaped? Students from the Christian-Wolff-Gymnasium in Halle explored these questions at Exipnos GmbH. The practical training days were part of the Junior Engineering Academy, a program through which the Deutsche Telekom Foundation supports learning collaborations between schools, companies, and research institutions.
Merseburg, March 29, 2017. In the color lab, the young people learned, for example, that coloring plastics requires not only microgram-precise dosing of pigments, but also that rough surfaces produce different shades than smooth ones. In the production hall, the students then learned about the future of parts manufacturing before testing specimens according to automotive industry standards in the company’s own materials laboratory.
